Ph.D. in India

Solzaire has a post about doing a Ph.D. in India in the fields of computer science, information technology and related areas. He doesn't want to say much on "the binary decision about whether or not to do a PhD". So, most of the information is about the mechanics of the process.

When one considers George Bernard Shaw's comment " Those who can do, do else they teach", you have made an apt observation. Phd is best persued by those people who persue knowledge for knowledge's sake

Hi. My intention in making the post was to lay out the facts for a large number of friends, colleagues, and juniors who ask about this and what exactly the process is in India. I don't think help on 'the great binary decision' is easy to come by or write about in preach mode. Also more experienced people, you included, are around so I'll just keep quiet :)

Hiren Shah, Solzaire: Thanks for your comments.

Solzaire: I do agree that giving advice on the 'binary decision' about whether to do a Ph.D. is difficult. All I said in my post was to tell the readers that you haven't given any advice on that topic. That's all.
