Coffee is good for you

Researchers have found strong evidence that coffee reduces the risk of several serious ailments, including diabetes, heart disease and cirrhosis of the liver.

So says this NYTimes report. The good stuff in coffee, apparently, is not caffeine, but a bunch of antioxidants. So you don't have to suffer sleeplessness to chase diabetes away; just drink decaf.

This reminds me of an interesting titbit about coffee. My condensed matter prof at Florida State made a grand entrance on the first day of the course. He came with a big coffee mug and the first sentence he uttered was "If you don't drink coffee, you can't do science. Go get coffee before we start talking science" :-). This is yet another reason to continue my excessive coffee drinking :-).
