Here is an article on the mathematics of Kolam:http://www.americanscientist.org/template/AssetDetail/assetid/14424This needs subscription but the German translation is free and has some very nice pictures.
Happy Pongal to you too!Cheers, Surya
Wow! Happy Pongal to you and the artists featured in the post as well! :) It's lovely. And you've a nice header too! This is catching on.
Happy Pongal Abi! And the big Kolam reminds me the times when we used to sit on the thinnai with sugarcane and watched the cows and bulls run amok on the streets (occasionally veering towards the thinnai and spoiling the kolam too while scattering us screeching towards the door).
Happy Pongal!I always wonder that how that Kolam comes out so good most of the times.I guess the positive feeling inside the creator makes the outcome to be "BEAUTIFUL".
For those who may not understand the theme of the Kolam, I have tried my little explanationhttp://bruno.penandscale.com/2008/01/nanopolitans-pongal-kolam-explained.html
