Relief

After all the accusatory comments I have got for my previous post on Lok Parithran, this news (scroll down to the last news item in that page) brings some relief (via RosaVasanth's Tamil blog): Lok Parithran's Tamil Nadu unit has split. And what a split it has been! Just look at the allegations:

"We left Lok Paritran on Sunday in disgust after witnessing the favouritism shown to the Mylapore candidate Santhanagopalan, who was given all the financial support and workforce for the campaign. We got nothing by way of support. On the other hand, we were abused, humiliated and even threatened by our national leadership," said K. Rajamany, the Anna Nagar candidate and an engineering consultant.

He alleged that he was first appointed treasurer of the party but was sacked when he asked for accounts.

There is more! Mr. Elanthirumaran, who contested against M. Karunanidhi in Chepauk, makes this bizarre allegation:

"... the party president and state general secretary had said that Mr. Santhanagopalan would get huge public sympathy and win in Mylapore if I got beaten up contesting in the politically sensitive Chepauk," he claimed.

Phew! If you will excuse me, I feel like basking in some schadenfreude ...

    Abi,
Nothing like running away from the problem!

Haha! This is so funny. Look how the newspaper writes ``national leadership" in quotes!!

It would be interesting to see whether these rebels will form something like Samajwadi Lok Paritran (or Dravida LP), or just return to their previous lives.

Pennathur: The thing that ran away was the aura that surrounded Lok Parithran.

    Vishnu: It's too funny.

Vijay: I think one should feel relieved that LP's true colours were revealed so early on in its life. One may still support it, but at least one won't be doing it with unrealistic expectations.

Thank goodness they've split. Now, at least, could the deluge of smses, emails and orkut scraps asking everyone to support them stop?

It's really Sad to see the comments posted by you all...

You all seem to be so happy about the split of the LP party... but don't seem to appreciate that they are atleast better than your Jaya Lalithas and Karunanidhis who are good for nothing parasites to the society...

Have the guts...then start something on your own rather than scavenging upon such news of failures or crack in the party where people atleast have an agenda.

u say this party was started by iitians. were they iit drop-outs or iit guys who passed out with such low scores that they cudn't even find appropriate jobs and considered this alternate profession (politics) for making money?
