Interesting to see consistently large number of PhDs in Mechanical Engineering compared to the other three streams. Any plausible explanation?

ReplyDelete@Lalit Patnaik: At IITM, ME dept. is the largest (size between 1/3rd and 2/3rd of the entire insti) in terms of students and faculty population. May be the size of the graduating PhD/MS is proportionally large.
