Here's Dilip D'Souza:
A man wanted to be Prime Minister on the back of riding a Toyota around the country and calling it a chariot. On the back of fueling resentments, nurturing victimhood and selling weakness. On the back of no vision for this country of any kind.
LK Advani has lost probably his last chance to be Prime Minister of India. Thank you, voters.

I'll have more later. For now, I am simply relieved and grateful that I live in a country whose government will not be headed by LK Advani.

As if any of this matters! What rubbish. Just because Advani lost, doesn't mean we are all more tolerant now !
In a sense what the public just said was, "Leave all the bigotry, hatred etc. to us, just give us more malls, jobs and the like".
Just like the American spectacle, we are perfecting the art of hosting a little tamaasha every 5 years!
@Anon, it is better to have perfect tamasha like America every 5 year than to live in China and Russia and forget about freedom of speech.
@Yayaver: Its not an either-or situation. You don't need a tamaasha every 5 years to guarantee freedom of speech and other civil liberties. One can have the latter, and have a more meaningful executive.
Anon to anon: Thanks for the nice snub. Some readers of this blog are becoming almost as dumb as the electorate nowadays. We live in a path-thetic little shit hole compared to Russia or China. So how do we cope emotionally? By invoking "free speech" as in "mere paas ma hai". Dopes.
