    is a daily compendium of some of the best writings from the web. Its highbrow, lowbrow, and everything in between.

    In fact the elevator joke about the door close button is from an article in the New Yorker which I got to from aldaily. It's actually anything but funny. The article revolves around the true story of a business executive who went down one evening to get some cigarettes and got stuck in the elevator for 40 hours!!
    For claustrophobic types like me who avoid elevators if they can, this is a nightmare that I live with constantly.
