Happiest countries

Here's the list of happiest countries (via BPS Digest):

1. Denmark
2. Switzerland
3. Austria
4. Iceland
5. The Bahamas
6. Finland
7. Sweden
8. Bhutan
9. Brunei
10. Canada

I'm sure you want to know where some of the big countries figure in this list: US (23), China (82), Japan (90), and India (125). The least happy country is Burundi at 178.

  2. For how happy they are, the Scandinavians don't smile enough. Nor the Swiss or the Austrians, for that matter.

    Maybe the correlation between happiness and smiling is not as significant as we believe it to be ...

  4. Are there any similarities between the top 10 countries apart from small population? Even Canada has a population of only 30 million odd.

    its amazing to see that Sweden booted out a government after 5 years of stable economic growth?

  5. i must say i found the most smiley and friendly people in the smaller Bahamian Islands. everyone of them stopped to smile and say Hi, genuinely. they thought it strange if you didn't respond similarily. in that list, sunshine is not a factor of happiness it seems, i say this because of many norhern counties on the list.
