Obligatory post on the World Cup

Well, I do have to say something about the World Cup, right?

I can't do better than linking to this wonderful collection of links to articles on the science of football, compiled by the friendly folks at New Scientist.

Also, do take a look at this NYTimes article about the major new innovation in this edition of the 'Cup: the ball is "rounder than any of its predecessors".

Thanks to Political Theory Daily Review for the pointers.
