Many have commented on the proposed change in the name of our city from Bangalore to Bengaluru. The best and most incisive analysis that I have seen so far is that of Gawker.

The government is clearly playing a short term game of make-them-forget-big-problems. It is bad enough that the press falls for it; it is worse when the bloggers do too.
When a lot of people are huffing and puffing in anger, it is nice to see a counterpunch that puts things in perspective. Thank *you* for providing that counterpunch.
