    Abi,
The schlarship offered by Sheldon Pollock is called Ambedkar Sanskrit Fellowship. Amedkar University does offer Ph.D. studies in Sanskrit. It seems that Ambedkar wanted to study Sanskrit in school but his teachers refused and he took Persian as second language. He learnt Sanskrit later and advocated Sanskrit as a national language for India. I have been looking off and on at technical vocabulary in Telugu and feel that Sankrit mat be useful for technical terminolgy for many Indian languages.
