How about India? What position does the contribution of a scientist/engineer have in our society? Do they get their due recognition?

"Forty years ago, not only Vishveshvariah, many others like Khosla, Thirumalai Iyengar were national figures of repute. Does any one know today who is building Narmada Dam? Or, who has designed PSLV? Engineers have indeed become faceless people."

The same is true for scientists and teachers in general.
