Much more serious cases have been ignored by IITK in the last few years. And the problem is, of course, not specific to IITK. How many institutes really take a tough stand on copying by students in an exam. I know IITK does not - it issues warnings only. But I am sure others don't take it seriously either.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08243850000547134256noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9818962.post-21293939796605311472010-10-08T18:47:42.908+05:302010-10-08T18:47:42.908+05:30I don't think the idea of plagiarism is really...I don't think the idea of plagiarism is really even entrenched seriously enough in the Indian education system. That is the sad fact. I don't remember ever being told by teachers that reproducing material, word for word from other works without citing is not done. I only learned to take it seriously in grad school in the US. Hope things change gradually.NMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01855122547128021047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9818962.post-11817497570674031882010-10-07T19:04:42.735+05:302010-10-07T19:04:42.735+05:30The IITK plagiarism policy sounds apologetic for t...The IITK plagiarism policy sounds apologetic for taking action on plagiarism. Apparently two papers from this group have been retracted, and the only common author is the senior author.
